First of all, I just want to say that common sense is the best indicator of whether or not what you're about to post will get penalized. If you have a feeling that what you're posting is bad, don't post it. However, if the "common sense rule" was all that governed this site, there would undoubtedly be mayhem. So I have thrown together a nice set of rules and regulations.
~Rules and Regulations for this Site~
1) Flaming and Trolling are strictly prohibited. Flaming is defined as a clear and apparent insult of another board member. Trolling is defined as intentionally posting to annoy another board member or to incite them to flame you. These kinds of posts are just unnecessary and they ruin the posting atmosphere.
2) Spamming is not allowed. Spamming is defined as mass-posting or topic creation, most of which consist of one-word or pointless replies that have no significance to the discussions taking place. Most often, spamming is used to increase post count quickly to gain higher ranks. If you spam, I will reset your post count to zero and delete the posts you made.
3) If you are posting in an RP or Fan Fiction section, all posts must be on topic or relevant to the topic in some way. Off-topic posts will be deleted, and repeated offenses will garner greater penalty. There is a section for utter nonsense and random conversation, so keep Off-topic posts confined to that section.
4) RPing done on this site is to be done using novel format. There will be no script writing or one-line responses. If you are unsure what novel format means, go get a novel from your local library and peek inside. That's the format we use here. If you can't handle that, you might as well not RP. If you are unskilled in this format, there is a section on the site that gives writing tips and assistance.
5) As an extension of rule 4, God-Modding and "meta-gaming" in the RPs is not allowed. God-Modding can be classified as doing things such as always evading attacks, using attacks that do not give other posters a chance to evade, controlling other posters' characters without their permission, and similar things. Meta-gaming is simply when you use your own knowledge to make your character do something. For instance, if you know that your character is about to walk into a room containing a trap, but there is no logical way that your character could know this, you can't have your character avoid the trap.
6) Pay attention to what other RPers post and try to be aware of where everyone is. You should not be talking to a character that is on a completely different planet than you are, nor should your character be in more than one place at a time. This sort of thing just creates a confusing mess that no one wants to sift through.
7) Spoilers for video games, movies, and books are not allowed. It is extremely rude to spoil critical plot details or information for people who have not yet had a chance to see them for themselves. If you feel the need to talk about critical plot details, please mark your post to indicate that it contains spoilers.
8) Sexually explicit posts, images, links, or videos are prohibited. You will automatically be suspended for linking someone to such a site or image, and depending on how offensive it is, you might be banned altogether. That sort of thing has no place here, so don't bring your fap material here for display.
9) Advertising on the site is not allowed unless approved by myself or another Administrator. If you wish to advertise your own site or affiliate with this site, please ask before doing so.
10) The most important rule of all is to have fun. If you're struggling to keep up with a story or finding it unappealing, you probably aren't having fun. If you aren't enjoying the RPing experience, you might as well not take part in it. This site is for having fun writing in stories and interacting.
There are probably more rules that I could have included, but I'm not one to nitpick every detail. You guys should know what it appropriate and what isn't. Remember that it is up to the Staff to determine if what you post is against the rules or not. There is a fine line between appropriate or inappropriate posts. Trying to argue your case will only earn harsher penalty.
Your account comes with a handy Warning Level, which begins set at 0%. However, as you commit infractions, your Warning Level will increase. If at any point you reach 100%, you will be suspended and your account will be disabled temporarily. If you have been a source of constant problems, you may be banned entirely.
I hate to be the bad guy, so please just abide by the rules and make things easier for everyone. Use your common sense and don't do anything inappropriate. Do that, and we'll all have fun.
